The Association of Iranian Physicists in Medicine (AIPM) unequivocally condemns the ongoing massacre of peaceful protesters in Iran and the systematic violence inflicted upon innocent civilians. We stand in solidarity with the Iranian people, as well as with Iranian medical physicists and healthcare professionals who are working under extreme and dangerous conditions amid widespread internet and communications blackouts, intermittent electricity outages, overwhelmed hospitals, and raids on medical facilities by armed forces. We support the protection and restoration of essential medical services for those suffering from injury and illness, and we denounce any actions that target defenseless civilians, patients, healthcare workers, or medical institutions. AIPM calls for an immediate end to the killing of peaceful protesters and affirms its unwavering support for universal human rights, fundamental freedoms, and a just and peaceful resolution that upholds human dignity.

AIPM EXCOM

Dear Colleagues,

On Jan 30th, 2026, the Association of Iranian Physicists in Medicine (AIPM) sent an official letter to the White House and the President of the United States addressing the escalating humanitarian crisis in Iran. The letter documents the systematic targeting of civilians, healthcare workers, and hospitals, and raises grave concerns about the weaponization of medicine and the criminalization of medical care. Drawing on verified reports and professional expertise, AIPM calls for immediate international action to protect medical neutrality and secure the release of detained healthcare workers. The full letter is available here.

Between Feb 5th, 2026 and Feb 7th, 2026, a similar letter to the above was sent to Doctors without Borders, World Health Organization, World Medical Association, Physicians for Human Rights, International Committee of the Red Cross, British Medical Association, American Medical Association, Global Health Council, Amnesty International, and the Human Right Watch.

AIPM is committed to raising awareness among medical and health care professionals about the dire situation in Iran. Patients face horrific conditions and severely limited access to care, while physicians themselves are being arrested, with some placed on death row. Since the publication of our prior letter to the White House, reports indicate the arrest of additional doctors across the country, and hospitals have been weaponized to identify and detain protestors. This must stop: Health care must not be used as a tool of repression, and human health and dignity must not be sacrificed for political ends.
